In my teaching starting with stage/year 2 classes, students are given participatory exercises within large lectures; stage 3 seminars only; and at graduate level classes are 100% student-led.  This runs through my research, with young scholars included alongside professors in edited publications. In service, it is about supporting students to run social events themselves and take an active part in the design of the academic programme. This may work against the traditional hierarchies of academia and means such work is not always recongised as it is about working with rather than monologing to others, but it helps maintain the freshness and value of the work universities do.
